So, after spending a few weeks travelling across the UK with Arcane Roots, I headed out to Prague to join them on the second week of their European tour. On this week of touring we luckily had days off inbetween shows that allowed us to do some sightseeing in the beautiful cities the band were playing in. The week took from Prague to Budapest, then to Vienna and to our last stop Stuttgart before returning home.
We spent a very sunny day exploring Prague and made sure we did not leave any part of the city unseen. After driving from our apartment on the outskirts of the city, we walked around the entire city, top to toe, left to right and I liked what I saw. Prague is full of so much colour, beautiful architecture and great food, and there were plenty of opportunities for some great shots along the way.
The show the next day was held at the lovely ROXY club in the old part of the city, where the crowd dance and sang along throughout! As we had a day off the next day, we were able to stay in Prague, enjoy a late evening of strudel and a morning of relaxed breakfast before we set off for Budapest.
In Budapest we stayed in an apartment right across from the beautiful hungarian Parliament and reveled in the sunshine and beauty the city had to offer. We first explored Budapest at dusk, and I felt this was really when the city looked the most beautiful; heading up to Mathias’ Church and the Fisherman’s Bastion amongst other sight that the Old Town had to offer. The next day was an absolute scorcher, but we fought the heat and walked on!
The show in Budapest was held at Dürer Kert which is right next to the city’s huge and beautiful park. The venue had a beautiful garden, complete with lanterns and ping pong tables, and the show was a resounding success for the band’s first time playing Hungary.
ROCK IN VIENNA
We didn’t get to see the actual city of Vienna, but we did get to spend a great at Rock In Vienna festival on the Danube. The guys played a great set to a solid crowd, and it was so nice to photograph an outdoor festival in the sun as I have never done that before. After we’d all indulged in a plethora of great food, we spent the evening watching The Hives, Incubus and headliners MUSE, before we started out drive to Stuttgart.
For the last show of the tour, we had to drive for most of the day, which again after loading in to the venue and soundchecking, left no room for exploring, but everyone was in high spirits for a great last show and with the distant thought of returning home to their own beds after 2 months away from home. The gig was a sweaty one, but full of singing, dancing, moshing and happiness all round, followed by a celebration of some of the best falafel I have ever had, and memories from the weeks gone by.
Again, thank you to the wonderful Arcane Roots for having me out on tour with them, and Carla Mundy for being the best tour buddy a girl could ask for! I have more pictures from the tours in the WORK section of my website, and will continue to keep you updated on the rest of my work as things happen.
